Great thinking from both of you – this is exactly the kind of decision-making we want to see.

There is not a single “wrong” answer here. The goal is to compare options and understand which discard gives you the strongest overall position.

In this case, keeping the 7 Character is usually stronger than discarding it. A 7 is a very flexible tile – it can connect in multiple ways and helps build efficient shapes.

On the other hand, isolated honor tiles like Red Dragon and Green Dragon have limited potential unless you commit to them early. That makes them more natural discard candidates in many situations.

The deeper idea here is shape awareness – learning to recognize which tiles improve your hand structure and which ones slow it down.

We break this down further in the case study, where you will see how small shape decisions like this impact the entire hand.

I would discard 7 Character as I already have one

I will discard the red or green dragon as they are isolated.
